NDSCS president waiting for a clearer picture of future higher education allocations - Frank Stanko, Wahpeton Daily News

As North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum adjusts to his new office, the state’s higher education providers are waiting to see if he’ll follow the recommendation of outgoing Gov. Jack Dalrymple and reduce the state’s budgets by an additional 5 percent. In August, the Daily News reported North Dakota State College of Science was already expecting 10 percent less from the state’s general fund for the 2017-19 biennium. The college has been making necessary reductions since February, eliminating approximately $5.7 million to date from its budget. “All 11 institutions in the university system are being asked to do the same thing with the same percentages,” said Dr. John Richman, college president, during a staff address in August. “Each one has been given the flexibility to manage it how they see best, to move their mission forward into the future.” http://www.wahpetondailynews.com/news/more-cuts-under-new-administration/article_691bbd58-c3a5-11e6-9a3f-c3d0f961c966.html
