UNC Pembroke dropping men's soccer - Thomas Pope, Fay Observer

UNC Pembroke is eliminating its men’s soccer program due to budget concerns, Director of Athletics Dick Christy confirmed Tuesday. The decision was first announced by The Robesonian on its website. Scholarships will be honored for any athletes that wish to complete their studies at UNCP, Christy said. It is the third sports program to be trimmed since 2015, when women’s tennis and men’s golf were eliminated. Men’s and women’s indoor track was added then, as well as swimming and diving, as those sports cost signficantly less to support. http://www.fayobserver.com/sports/college_sports/unc-pembroke-dropping-men-s-soccer/article_9f771ed6-d7c0-11e6-91a2-17af287aea2c.html
