Higher ed officials fear Nebraska Gov. Ricketts’ proposed budget - MATT DIXON, THE WORLD-HERALD

University of Nebraska President Hank Bounds told the Nebraska Legislature’s Appropriations Committee Tuesday that he feared last fall a midyear tuition increase might be required. Bounds said Gov. Pete Ricketts agreed to cut only $13.3 million from the NU system’s 2016-17 budget instead of $23 million, and an immediate tuition hike wasn’t necessary. But Bounds and other higher education officials said state funding cuts in the 2017-19 budget cycle would lead to significant tuition hikes over the next couple of years. http://www.nptelegraph.com/news/state/higher-ed-officials-fear-gov-ricketts-proposed-budget/article_fb87599c-dd3e-11e6-a19c-2355707d518f.html
