Trump budget could cut research funding for Washington U, SLU - Angela Mueller, St. Louis Business Journal

Local organizations could feel the effect of funding cuts to research institutions such as the National Institutes of Health included in President Donald Trump's budget. The White House budget proposal, which was submitted to Congress on Thursday, includes a $5.8 billion reduction, or 18 percent, in funding going to the NIH, the New York Times reports. More than 80 percent of the NIH's budget goes to outside researchers, according to the Washington Post, and local institutions such as Washington University, Saint Louis University and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville are among those receiving funds from the organization. http://www.bizjournals.com/stlouis/news/2017/03/17/trump-budget-could-cut-research-funding-for.html
