Editorial: Congress must save college work-study funds - Moorehead News

If President Donald Trump gets his way in the 2018 federal budget process, nearly half of the college students now holding “workships” (part-time jobs) will lose that support. Known as the Federal Work-Study Program, it has been helping students for 50 years while providing public and private colleges with extra employees at a bargain price. Trump’s budget proposal would eliminate 49 percent of the work-study funding and directly impact eligible students at Morehead State University and the Rowan Campus of Maysville Community and Technical College. Designed specifically to help low-income students, the program often results in students being placed in jobs directly related to their own academic interests. http://www.themoreheadnews.com/opinion/editorial-congress-must-save-college-work-study-funds/article_3ec3b2fe-4faf-11e7-9e95-b30bfb02251c.html
