University of Akron may consider eliminating Friday classes - Karen Farkas, Cleveland.com

The University of of Akron may do what many college students attempt when registering each semester - eliminate classes on Friday. President Matthew Wilson says the university needs to find creative ways to save money and close a budget gap. He recently told members of the University Council that one idea being discussed is "developing a four-day core academic calendar that would guarantee students a three-day weekend," according to the university. Fridays could be career and study days, he said. If feasible, the changes would occur in fall 2018. No other details are available, said UA spokesman Wayne Hill. http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2017/07/university_of_akron_may_consider_eliminating_friday_classes.html
