Bullock: Montana legislature could have prevented budget cuts - Gail Schontzler, Chronicle

Gov. Steve Bullock said Friday in Bozeman that up to $227 million in budget cuts facing state colleges, public health and other services over the next two years could have been prevented by the 2017 Legislature. “It’s frustrating to me that we have to look at cutting programs that are important to Montanans, when it could’ve been prevented,” said Bullock when asked about budget cuts during his tour of a job-training program at Montana State University. MSU could lose up to $5.5 million in the school year that just started, President Waded Cruzado wrote in an email to the university community. That would be roughly 2.5 percent of MSU’s $224.8 million operating budget, which depends heavily on student tuition. http://www.bozemandailychronicle.com/news/montana_state_university/bullock-legislature-could-have-prevented-budget-cuts/article_fdf2cf92-c5ed-59cf-9dc0-33320da181ff.html
