UConn President says budget would cut $140 million from school - Kels Dayton, WTNH

University of Connecticut President Susan Herbst says the proposed state budget, which passed on Thursday with veto-proof majorities in the House and Senate, would cut about $140 million from the university over the next two years. Herbst says the bduget will have a “significant negative impact,” but says it is better than the $300 million cut in the budget that was vetoed by Governor Malloy. If this budget becomes law, Herbst says some hiring could be frozen, projects delayed, and departments restructured. She also said positions could be eliminated, and non-essential services reduced, as UConn tries to reconcile fewer state dollars coming in. http://wtnh.com/2017/10/26/uconn-president-susan-herbst-reacts-to-cuts-in-potential-state-budget/
