Arcadia students protest faculty layoffs By Kristen Stedman, Montgomery News
Nearly 200 Arcadia University students gathered April 2 in protest of the administration’s decision to lay off more than 10 full-time faculty members March 27 — a move the incoming president later put on hold. “We are not here to fight against Arcadia,” Rebecca Zimmerman, a junior psychology major and music minor, said at the rally held by Knights for Action, a student group formed in response to the issue. “We are here today to fight for Arcadia, for our professors, for our education and for our community.” Representatives from across the university community, including alumni, undergraduate and graduate students, as well as adjunct professors and full-time faculty, were present at the rally. Notably, the university’s incoming president, Dr. Ajay Nair, also made an appearance.
