Eastern Michigan keeping sports and staff cuts despite opposition - Martin Slagter, MLive

Eastern Michigan University has responded to a series of demands by university faculty, staff and students demanding it reconsider cuts to staff and its athletics programs. The university announced the cuts to mitigate a budget deficit between $4.5 million and $5.5 million. EMU's response indicated it could not reverse those cuts, however, citing declining state support and "enrollment shifts" in Michigan that have forced the university to eliminate well over 100 positions since January 2016; with nearly 10 percent of all administrative and staff positions eliminated during that time. http://www.mlive.com/news/ann-arbor/index.ssf/2018/04/emu_denies_budget_demands_to_r.html
