Where's Iowa's public university tuition going? The same place it has gone before: Up, up, up. - Kathy A. Bolten, Des Moines Register

Most undergraduate students at Iowa’s three public universities will face average tuition increases in the fall of 3.5 percent, under a proposal released Tuesday by the Iowa Board of Regents. But, thousands of others — many of whom are science, technology, engineering, business and math majors — will see much higher hikes, according to the proposal. At Iowa State University, officials want to expand its practice of charging different tuition rates for different majors to a broader selection of programs. If approved, more than half of Iowa State's undergraduate students would pay rates in two to three years that are 20 percent to 33 percent more than the standard tuition, according to the proposal. “This is going to be tough for those students because it might deter them from pursuing the majors that they are really interested in,” said Cody Woodruff, an Iowa State sophomore and vice speaker of the student government senate. https://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/education/2018/04/03/undergraduate-tuition-increase-iowa-board-regents-university-iowa-iowa-state-northern-iowa/474447002/
