Faculty, staff salary increases on hold at University of Iowa until at least January - Kathy A. Bolten, Des Moines Register

The University of Iowa is freezing faculty and staff pay hikes until January — and even then, it is giving no guarantees that salaries will be increased. University administrators blame the delay on uncertainty in how much revenue the institution will receive from tuition, fees and state allocations. This year, Iowa State University also implemented a salary freeze for nearly all of its staff. Universities in four other states also saw salary freezes this year, according to a recent report by the National Education Association’s Center for Advocacy. “Salary freezes hurt morale and lead talented faculty members to search for jobs elsewhere,” said Thomas Harnisch, a spokesman with American Association of State Colleges and Universities. https://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/education/2018/05/14/university-iowa-salary-freeze-tuition-budget/608219002/
