Hiram College looks at layoffs as it restructures - Briana Barker, Record-Courier

Citing enrollment, an impending restructuring and the need to cut more than $1 million from its budget, Hiram College is planning layoffs, causing tension between the administration and faculty. According to an April 19 email from Hiram President Lori Varlotta to faculty, staff and students, Hiram’s offerings will be reorganized and centered around five interdisciplinary schools. “The names of the schools will be finalized over the coming months, but we have identified ‘placeholder language’ temporarily labeling the schools as: Science and Sustainability; Health and Community Advocacy; Business and Information Analysis; Education and Civic Leadership; and Exploratory Thought, Creative Arts, and Languages,” Varlotta wrote. http://www.record-courier.com/news/20180515/hiram-college-looks-at-layoffs-as-it-restructures
