What happened to sustainability at UM? - Cassidy Alexander, Montana Kaimin

With the University of Montana in a budget crisis, one issue has been shoved to the back burner: sustainability. In 2015, the Associated Students of the University of Montana passed a resolution in support of covering the parking garage in solar panels. This would provide about 10 percent of the University’s annual electrical needs for the next 40 years, saving $6 to $8 million annually, the resolution says. Colin Milton, chair of the ASUM sustainability committee, said ASUM’s sustainability goals have shifted to meet budget needs. Smaller projects must be within $2,500 this year, Milton said. http://www.montanakaimin.com/news/what-happened-to-sustainability-at-um/article_256623b0-5241-11e8-a907-174158a09d0c.html
