Defining 'right' size and mission, as University of Montana-MSU enrollment gap widens = KEILA SZPALLER, the Missoulian
The University of Montana in Missoula and Montana State University in Bozeman may look more different than ever this fall, with enrollment disparity between the flagships likely at its widest since 1980, according to records from the Montana Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education. UM is projecting another drop to 11,920 students, while MSU is projecting an increase from 16,703 heads last fall, roughly 40 percent more than UM. The gap is even bigger when it comes to full time equivalents, based on students carrying a full course load.
