Grassroots campaign to save Pima Football program underway - Eric Fink, KOVA
It's 4th and long for the Pima Community College football program and a group of dedicated fans, coaches and community activists are fired up in an effort to save the sport. "I am clearly telling you Chancellor Lambert, you should work on your resume. we the people will not let you hurt our youth, our children, our future," community activist Richard Hernandez said Saturday. "The school exists for the students," founding Pima Track and Field coach Jim Mielke said. "If the students aren't there and they don't have what they want, there's no reason for the college to exist. Why in the world would the board let the chancellor eliminate or destroy or distort a program that has 50 years of excellence?"
