SIUC's rising tuition likely among primary causes of enrollment decline, but it's complicated - K. JANIS ESCH, The Southern

In February, the SIU Board of Trustees approved a 2 percent tuition hike, driving the cost of tuition and fees up to $14,599 for the 2018-19 academic year. Adjusted for inflation, the cost of SIU Carbondale’s tuition and fees has increased about 150 percent for Illinois residents in the last two decades. When it comes to increased reliance on tuition, SIUC is not alone: A 2018 study by the State Higher Education Executive Officers found that tuition, rather than state and local dollars, has become the primary revenue source for public colleges and universities in most states across the nation. http://thesouthern.com/news/local/siu/siuc-s-rising-tuition-likely-among-primary-causes-of-enrollment/article_4ee40269-8db4-5255-b561-2163d9922982.html
