Quincy College to slash budget by $5 million but keep faculty - Erin Tiernan, Patriot Ledger

The board’s finance committee unanimously approved a $21.9 million draft budget that would cut the college’s operating budget by about $7.6 million in the next fiscal year to make up for the loss in revenue after the school’s lucrative nursing programs were closed by the state following years of worsening test scores. About $5 million would be recouped through cuts to leases, supplies and administrative personnel and by leaving vacant positions unfilled. The other $2 million would come from the college’s reserve fund. “On the city side, we call this the rainy day fund,” Mayor Thomas Koch said. “Well, folks, it’s raining in the college. We’ve got some work to do. We’ve got to invest in the college so we can turn the ship around.” http://www.patriotledger.com/news/20180620/quincy-college-to-slash-budget-by-5-million-but-keep-faculty
