Bacone College begins new school year despite past financial trouble - Lauren Partain, KTUL

Bacone College began their new school year Wednesday, something many students didn’t think would happen this year. Last spring, the liberal arts college in Muskogee revealed it was about $2 million in debt and making cuts. Newly hired president, Ferlin Clark, said they also had to cut a couple sports programs like football to save money. He said this will also switch the college’s focus back to academics. “I think the core of it is we became a sports institute rather than an academic institution, and we had 16 athletic programs rather than 13 academic programs, so we needed to realign who we really are,” said Clark. They are also working to sell other buildings not on the main campus. https://ktul.com/news/local/bacone-college-begins-new-school-year-despite-past-financial-trouble
