Nurses call for rejection of Burlington hospital's budget - SUZANNE MOORE, Press Republican

The union representing nurses at University of Vermont Medical Center wants approval delayed of its 2019 budget until a new contract is ratified. The action by the Vermont Federation of Nurses and Health Professionals comes on the heels of two all-day bargaining sessions between nurses and management this week that failed to produce an agreement. Under state statute, a press release from the federation said, the Green Mountain Care Board is responsible for reviewing and establishing hospital budgets in a way that “enhances the patient and health care professional experience of care” and “supports the recruitment and retention of high-quality health care professionals.” The union maintained that ratification of a new contract for the 1,800 nurses employed at the hospital in Burlington is critical to ensuring "safe staffing and quality patient care." http://www.pressrepublican.com/news/local_news/nurses-call-for-rejection-of-burlington-hospital-s-budget/article_dacf3272-9ab9-5bb9-8759-c24992f8b9a3.html
