Winona State cuts nearly $6 million from 2019 budget amid drop in state funding - Madeline Heim, Winona Daily News

Winona State University slashed its budget by $5.9 million for the 2019 fiscal year, facing a drop in monetary support from the legislature as well as a changing funding allocation model from the Minnesota State system. Changes to how state funding is distributed between Minnesota State’s campuses allow the framework to reflect student success, be more responsive to changing conditions, better align program costs with resources and increase transparency, said Laura King, the system’s vice chancellor of finance and chief financial officer. She added that major drivers of change to the allocation model include the level of state funding, student demographics, instructional cost comparisons and enrollment. Enrollment at WSU has been decreasing steadily in the last few years. https://www.winonadailynews.com/news/local/winona-state-cuts-nearly-million-from-budget-amid-drop-in/article_93ce6b1f-db86-57c0-a242-a37095796021.html
