LOOK BACK 2018: EKU suspends programs, cuts positions after 2018 budget cuts - Taylor Six, Richmond Register

The suspension of programs and elimination of positions at Eastern Kentucky University was voted the third biggest story in 2018 by The Register's staff after budget cuts to higher education wreaked havoc amongst public universities throughout the Commonwealth and affected each individual associated with EKU. As the state tightened their purse strings on higher education funding for the second year in a row, schools statewide had to cut millions of dollars from their budgets. The funding shortfall at EKU forced the university to make a $25 million reduction to its internal budget, which came at the expense of 153 positions within faculty and staff, 19 program suspensions, the men's and women's tennis teams and the Danville regional campus. https://www.richmondregister.com/news/look-back-eku-suspends-programs-cuts-positions-after-budget-cuts/article_66325dcc-d933-5c45-a249-2902d90eb3fd.html
