Almost 40 local employees were laid off from Bisk Education in a realignment of the company. Nine percent of the online education company, which employees between 450 and 500 people, were laid off this week, according to Bisk executives. A total of 37 employees were laid off. Most of the layoffs were effective immediately. "From a purpose or reasoning standpoint, it was definitely necessary as we progress and become more efficient," Misty Brown Fischer, chief people officer, said in an interview with the Tampa Bay Business Journal.
