COVID-19 has cost the University of Tennessee at Knoxville nearly $58 million - Monica Kast, Knoxville News Sentinel

The COVID-19 pandemic has cost the University of Tennessee at Knoxville $57.9 million dollars, Chancellor Donde Plowman said Wednesday.  The bulk of those costs, $19.9 million, came from refunds issued to students when the spring semester went fully virtual.Those refunds included housing, dining and athletic fees that were given back to students. Tuition and fee refunds added up to $802,000.
