Connecticut’s regional universities and community colleges are projecting a pandemic-driven budget deficit of $69 million in the current fiscal year, higher than what had been anticipated when the year began July 1 but lower than a $91 million shortfall forecast last month. Mark Ojakian, president of the Connecticut State Collges and Universities system, wrote to Gov. Ned Lamont Monday requesting about $70 million in aid from the state and describing the system’s financial situation as “dire.”
