The skills they learn in the classroom and school are only the beginning of what will be a life of learning. Quality education allows them to continue to acquire new skills, specialize in certain areas or create new opportunities. Our education systems need to produce students not only with literacy in reading and math but also literacy in how to continue learning. We need them to have literacy in learning. In the coming years, educators and business leaders must work together to help make sure students of today can be fulfilled and productive. We must not only make up for lost time in the classroom but must also help them get ahead of where they might have been.
