University budget cuts will mean job losses - Montreal Gazette, letters
Before she was elected premier of Quebec, Pauline Marois took the side of the student protest movement, and promised to do away with tuition increases. Her ploy worked, but then she turned around and imposed budget cuts on all the universities because there is just not enough money in government coffers. It seems she merely gives with one hand, while taking away with the other hand. Does she realize that by giving in to student demands so that they may save a few hundred dollars a year, she will be sending many long-time university workers to the unemployment lines? People will lose their livelihoods.
