University System of Maryland seeks funding for budget shortfall as state deadline approaches - Jon Banister, Diamondback

Gov. Larry Hogan has until next Monday to grant additional funding to help the University System of Maryland deal with its $47 million budget shortfall for the upcoming fiscal year. Both the state Senate and House of Delegates passed amended versions of Hogan’s original budget proposal in March and are meeting this week to work out the differences between the two versions. Neither chamber reduced the $1.2 billion in state funding that Hogan originally budgeted for the university system.
