College students could face a $1,100 cut in the maximum state grant award in 2019-20 - Jan Murphy, Penn Live

College students who are dependent on a state grant to help pay their tuition could be in for a shock in 2019-20 unless the state finds more money, $95 million more, to put into the grant program. The Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency board of directors on Thursday approved asking for $368.2 million for the next year's grant program, which represents nearly a 35 percent increase over this year's appropriation. The reason for the large increase has to do with actions taken this year to avoid a $705 cut to the maximum grant award of $4,123. https://www.pennlive.com/politics/index.ssf/2018/09/college_students_could_face_a.html
