UALR lifts ban on 'nonessential' travel, will instead cut departments' maintenance budgets - Rachel Herzog, Arkansas Online
The University of Arkansas at Little Rock has lifted a ban on “nonessential” travel and instead will cut 3 percent of each department’s maintenance budget, Chancellor Andrew Rogerson told staff in an email Wednesday. The maintenance budgets cover non-salary financial needs, said Judy Williams, associate vice chancellor of communications and marketing. The cuts will be distributed evenly across departments, Williams said, which include academic departments as well as the marketing, athletics and facilities departments. UALR is facing an enrollment drop of nearly 10 percent for the 2018-19 school year. At an open forum held on campus Friday, Rogerson said that the university faces a budget deficit of about $9 million.
