The organisation described the funding reduction as “horrific and highly disappointing” for an industry still recovering from Covid restrictions. The Monash University cultural and creative industries academic Dr Ben Eltham, who advises the Fund the Arts coalition, said the funding continued to fall over the forward estimates to 2025-26. The sudden drop is largely due to the winding down of the Covid-19 stimulus program for the arts, he conceded.
