Louisiana State University at Alexandria student Casey Branton, a clinical lab senior, has known about an acute shortage in various medical professions for years. o when she heard the news that her degree program is on the list of potential budget cuts for the 2011-12 LSUA fiscal year, it didn't make sense to her. I hate it for the high school kids who want to come to college, and it's going to put us in a predicament whenever we start working because what are we going to do if we don't have anybody to replace us and help us out," said Branton, 22, as she sat in front of a microscope next to other classmates.
