Higher Education: More Students, Less Money - Lakeland Ledger Editorial

Polk State College started its school year this month with a record enrollment: nearly 10,300 students. That's an increase of nearly 55 percent from four years ago. Sadly, state support for PSC hasn't kept up with enrollment. That has been the case at not only PSC, but at the other 27 institutions in the Florida College System. In the past three years, enrollment for those colleges has increased by 23 percent. In that same period, state appropriations have declined by 14 percent.
