UVM says staff cuts are possible - Associated Press

A University of Vermont official says staff cuts are possible as the schools tries to close a $5 million budget shortfall for next year. University Provost Jane Knodell says after three straight years of budget gaps, the only place left to cut is doing without pay raises for non-union staff. She says cutting positions is also possible. Knodell told Vermont Public Radio that UVM doesn't expect a lot of layoffs but there could be some. The budget gap is only a small amount of UVM's $290 million spending plan.
