CCC leaders grapple with collapsing budget forecast - Edward Stratton, The Daily Astorian

A mood of inevitability loomed lightly over Tuesday’s meeting of Clatsop Community College’s Board of Directors. After welcoming new directors Karen Burke and Larry McKinley, the board prepared to make payroll, do more with less in the 2014-15 budget cycle and hope the state gives them more money. “From a budget standpoint, I’m estimating we’ll be down 10 percent (from the prior financial forecast),” said JoAnn Zahn, vice president for finance and operations. The college, she said, has whittled its projected ending fund balance as of June 30 down to about $350,000, far from the $500,000 or more she’d like. The amount is just 3.4 percent of the total general fund used to operate the college. http://www.dailyastorian.com/news/ccc-leaders-grapple-with-collapsing-budget-forecast/article_7175a638-c021-11e3-80da-0019bb2963f4.html
