University raises tuition, trims budget - Troy Messenger

The cost of a Trojan education has risen. Troy University’s Board of Trustees approved a 3 percent undergraduate and 8 percent graduate tuition increase effective fall semester. Officials say the increases are part of the university’s efforts to trim an $11 million budget deficit. The additional tuition is expected to raise about $7 million. An additional $4.3 million has been cut from departmental budgets. The move came as a part of a proposal that will also see the University trim more than $4.3 million in expenses. The tuition increase is expected to raise approximately $7 million and will help to offset a more than $11 million budget shortfall. http://www.troymessenger.com/2014/06/05/university-raises-tuition-trims-budget/
