Budget cuts force U Alaska Fairbanks to drop men's hoops tourney - Sam Harrel, News-Miner

The GCI Alaska Invitational men’s basketball tournament has been eliminated as a result of budget cuts at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Cutting the tournament was among budget cuts that were released by the university on Wednesday. According to athletic director Gary Gray, eliminating the tournament saves the athletic department about $40,000.
