Southern Illinois University OKs teachers to work this fall despite state budget impasse - Associated Press

The (Carbondale) Southern Illinois reports (http://bit.ly/1eG8De3 ) that in April, SIU sent notices to most of the school's 1,800 faculty and graduate assistants telling them they might not have a job. But SIU administrators this week authorized contracts for the teachers despite the state budget gridlock. SIU spokeswoman Rae Goldsmith says the school waited for a state budget, but "we couldn't wait any longer." She says jobs for SIU's graduate assistants are guaranteed through the fall semester. Faculty will be cleared to work the full school year. http://www.dailyjournal.net/view/story/8067919c15454177816a5c5eae816197/IL--Illinois-Budget-SIU
