UL System takes hard hit from budget cuts - Leigh Guidry, the Advertiser

It’s no secret state funding for higher education in Louisiana is down, but one system seems to be taking the brunt of it. And many students can expect tuition hikes this fall as a result. State general fund allocations for 2016-17 are down $8.1 million from July 1, 2015, according to the Louisiana Board of Regents, which approves the distribution of such funds each year. The board reviewed and approved this year’s operating budget distribution formula June 29. Regional universities are seeing reductions — some more drastic than others. Of that $8.1 million reduction, more than $5.5 million is coming from the University of Louisiana System — the state's largest higher education system. That's 68 percent of the total amount of cuts this year. http://www.theadvertiser.com/story/news/2016/07/08/ul-system-takes-hard-hit-budget-cuts/86727120/
