Nichols outlines UW budget priorities, says she is 'overcutting' - Arno Rosenfeld, Casper Star Tribune

University of Wyoming president Laurie Nichols says she was going “above and beyond” in cutting the university’s budget, intentionally reducing the institution’s spending more than is required by the drop in state funding. “We’re overcutting a little bit right now,” Nichols told a gathering of municipal officials here last Thursday. “There’s a little saying: Never let a good crisis go to waste,” she said. “It’s really a good opportunity to get some additional flexibility built into the budget.” The university has lost $42 million in state funding for the current two-year budget cycle and has announced $29 million in budget cuts so far, with more on the way. http://trib.com/news/local/education/nichols-outlines-uw-budget-priorities-says-she-is-overcutting/article_1ec88b93-9026-5e74-8f00-cbcbea078dec.html
