Spare the university: More cuts to higher education will put Alaska’s future at risk - News-Miner opinion

What they fear is a possible budget reduction by Gov. Mike Dunleavy this week that will radically reduce the ability of the university to educate young Alaskans, to give them the skills that Alaska’s workforce needs now and will need in the years ahead and to keep them in this great state. The governor doesn’t have the authority to reduce the university’s budget himself, of course. The Legislature would have to be complicit for any gutting of the university to occur.
